‘WOMAN’ is an art exhibition for social change organised by the team and put forth by Ms Nidaphi Hynniewta, an intern at the organisation from Hyderabad University. The theme of the exhibition is ‘Stand By Me’ to stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual abuse.
We invited 15 artists both men and women to contribute their works that addressed the issue on sexual abuse and the exhibition create a safe space for everyone to talk about sexual abuse. It was not only to bring about an awareness on sexual abuse but it was also a process for the artists to lead forward with thought provoking pieces that would help shift the way people think about women and children who have gone through this ordeal.
We had 30 artists from Shillong and around India who participated and showcased their work at the exhibition and we had people coming to witness the event and shared their thoughts and support against the cause on a written board. The exhibition was held on 30th and 2nd July 2018.
