International Girl Child Day – “Girl Force: Unscripted and unstoppable”

Info

The 11th of October is seen and celebrated as International Girl Child Day. It is a day dedicated to celebrating girls, amplify their voice and stand up for their rights. Together, with the same interest with other countries all over the world, we celebrated this day with school children of Nongmensong Durbar Secondary School in collaboration with children from A W Thomas girls, a child care institution. Schools children both boys and girls were introduced to a gallery of photographs that we have them installed in a school hall.

These photographs were captured by girls of A W Thomas during the social change photography initiated by Mr Clinton Massar, a freelance photographer and a Social Worker. The girls led by Mr Clinton Massar proudly stood next to their photographs and narrated their stories of voicing their rights with great hope. Hence, the event encourages these young minds from school to be assertive, to express and raise their voice against any exploitation. Ms B. Lyngdoh, from North East Network addresses the note of the theme “Girl Force: Unscripted and unstoppable”  and as we end the program all girls penned down their dreams on a paper and flew them up
