  • A two day workshop on the topic
  • A surprise and warm visit from Manickam ( warmly known as Manix) to our office.

We discussed building and strengthening the leadership of our Girls through playquity!! @playquitysocial

Opportunities and access to sports ( Frisbee) for our girls while integrating life skills to build agency of the girls we work with!!
  • Gratitude to the @globalfundforchildren for this wonderful opportunity to attend the 4th Biennial summit on Dance Movement Therapy and Creative Arts Therapy jointly organised by @kolkatasanved and TISS at this beautiful space at Jaipur
  • We have started the Intensive Frisbee training for a few of the youth of Umktieh and Syllei-u-lar communities of Ri-bhoi
It was a two weeks training program in which our team’s coach would go to take morning sessions.
The first day started with giving the youth a brief idea about the game play, rules, strategies, fouls followed by warm ups, basic throws, drills, defense, catches, and ends with a spirit circle.
Drills that included target practise, cut drill, huck throw, three person drill, disc tag, which will help them in their game play.
In the above reel you will observe a few snippets of offense and defense tactic that was taught to them by our coach.
The training aims to instil in them a sense of ownership for the sport. This will in turn enable them to shoulder the responsibility of teaching the sport to others, and will ensure its continuity in the community.
We will be starting the training for the children of the age 12-18 soon.
  • Our team held an awareness session on December 2nd with the ASHA’s, Aganwadis, and the mass female members of Circles 1, 2, and 3 of the Mawpat Community.
Along with the members of our team, 22 women attended the workshop.
We discussed about child rights, the grooming process in child sexual abuse and personal safety education program (PSEP), and the importance of teaching children protective behaviour.
Even they participated in the free and lively discussion and spoke their opinions.
Discussions around why child sexual assault is not talked about openly. Myths and facts related to child sexual abuse were clarified. Women provided feedback and were open and also shared that it is important to reach out to the other community members to create awareness.
It was a very resourceful evening with a lot of information exchanged between our team and the women there.
This is a first with them and we hope to have more sessions like these in the future.
