Ever since I was in school, I’ve always been shy and lacked confidence. I would shy away from opportunities because I never wanted to be in the spotlight.

Becoming a social worker not only helped me build my confidence but also pushed me to step out of my comfort zone. It allowed me to serve a greater purpose beyond myself and to leave a legacy. After completing my Master’s in Social Work (Community Development) from Martin Luther Christian University, I still wasn’t fully prepared for what awaited me at Faith Foundation.

Faith Foundation is a child rights organization, and my role on the team was to deliver the Personal Safety Education Program to schools and communities. It was daunting to step into classrooms and teach children about their rights, roles, and responsibilities.

Fast forward to now, where we launched the “Keeping Children Safe” series on our social media platforms. Let me tell youβ€”nothing can truly prepare you for being in front of the camera. Everything was new, and stepping out of my comfort zone reached a whole new level. Imparting knowledge through a camera, imagining that the audience is paying attentionβ€”it was intimidating.

However, with the support of my amazing colleagues, I learned to adjust. I’ve grown tremendously, and this experience has given me a deeper sense of confidence, service, and purpose, knowing that our work is reaching and impacting others. From being shy to becoming confident, Faith Foundation has provided me with an opportunity to grow as an individual while contributing to a cause I believe in.

I’m excited about what we’ll do next in the series, and I’m determined to continue contributing to this important cause in every way I can.
